Dc500 Underwater Camera Reviews - FAQ and Questions
- Underwater camera buttons lubricant?
Hi ive got a Sealife Reefmaster DC500 ive had it for about 3 years and the buttons on the underwater housing have started sticking should i use wd40 or someting else? many thanks for any suggestions.
A Underwater housing O rings are usually greased with a silicone based lubricant. Don't use WD40. If you've a dive shop near you then they should stock silicone lubricant in small tubs/tubes. Alternatively you can order some from here; http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk/general/consumables/index.html#grease Do you thoroughly rinse the camera in freshwater after using? It needs a good soak for half a hour or so minimum. It sounds like there's sand or grit in the button O rings - these are not changeable or usually greasable but a bit of silicone on the outside will help a bit. Do not try to take the buttons out as it will be impossible to reseat them satisfactorily. With my underwater cameras I just grease the housing O ring, never need to do the buttons.
