Stage Zero extension bar experiment - GoPro goes underwater. DP Stage Zero experiment with an extension bar to allow a GoPro Hero to track in and out of water for video and time-lapse applications. The Aluminium channel is bolted to the Trolley and runs in two V pulleys attached to the rail. The current extension is 6ft long with a usable extension of around 5 feet. It took about 2 hrs to build, mostly taken up searching my scrap bin for material to mount the pulleys. The underwater shots are not too inspiring but my prime objective was to test the concept. The temperature was around Zero C, the light was starting to fade and I wanted a location I could park my car close to. The set-up will hopefully carry my Canon 5D for video and time-lapse, not into the water I hasten to add, I will hopefully be able to post some footage using the latter camera.

- I have a Navy Seal water question?
When I watch movies where Seals, or anyone else in the military, goes swimming in fresh water that has a LOT of debris, i.e. visibility underwater is near ZERO, I can't help but think about what LIVES in that type of water; a lot of different reptiles that bite, and even water insects that sting, and bite. I was watching a security camera video where a guy was mowing the grass along a canal when a alligator suddenly burst out of the water, grabbed the mower with it's mouth, and then threw the mower into the water! It happened so fast, the guy just stood there, completely shocked. I watch that and I get chills about our troops swimming around in such water. Damn...
A I think you'll find that most large predators tend to stay away from water with a lot of noise... like motors and explosions... even the cavitation of underwater propeller blades. Even a snake will try to leave if the meal is too large. Furthermore SEAL movements in the water are coordinated and smooth... not like a prey in trouble. Most predators don't go after stuff that's larger than they are if it looks like it can take care of itself. But, yeah, there are a few critters who will brave it for a meal... leeches mostly. Although, in Coronado, they do warn the candidates about the sharks. Sharks will go after just about anything... especially if there's blood in the water. Me? I retired from the Navy after a quarter of a century... first 4 years enlisted, the rest commissioned... and I got to know a few SEALs along the way.

Me: Thats it... but you have to be 13 and older (which i am turning 13 in a month) Her:........ seriosuly, they will take it away if they are smart enough to realize it and do you look 13?
